We like science, so we use research-backed treatment methods in the services we provide in our work with you.
We primarily focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) for two reasons:
- Much of what you struggle with is related to how you process your thoughts and the actions they influence.
Gaining mastery and discipline over where you allow your thoughts to go can bring incredible change in your life, even if you do nothing else.
CBT works if you work it, and we believe it can work for you.
- Therapy sometimes has a bad rap with its long treatment times and intrusive journey into the past.
This keeps some from committing to the work long enough to see change. SFT focuses on what’s going on right now and what you can do to affect your future.
Solution Focused Therapy is goal-directed and looks for solutions (hence the name) rather than just analyzing everything in the past. SFT looks at your past as it affects your ability to plan for the future.
- We may include other empirically-tested treatment methods to complement our work together.
We like Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy, to name a few.
Don’t focus just on the treatment method.
The progress you make won’t come about just because of any particular type of therapy. Treatment methods and services simply provide a structure to work in and help measure your progress.
A big indicator of your success in your therapy is in the relationship you build with us as your therapist and collaborator.
